Finally Friday

It has been a wild couple of weeks…so before we get to the best part of a Friday (fantasy of course) a quick update on all the goings on.  Long story short:  drove to Georgia, nabbed my best writer friend and her daughter, headed for New Orleans to meet up with another long-time writer friend and go to their writers’ group meeting. So much fun.  Great people, great time.

Before we came home, we went to Pas Christian beach and it was wonderful to see the ocean there. So many memories shared.

Horrendous storms on the way back…think hour upon hour of torrential rains so heavy that cars were barely doing 25-30 on 70-75mph freeways.  Nonetheless, we all got home safely, and that is what really matters.

Now, back in the Lowcountry, autumn pounced upon us and I am less than thrilled to bid my beloved summer farewell and accept autumn’s chilly embrace. This too shall pass.

Meanwhile, there are books to be written and decisions to be made. NaNoWriMo hovers on the horizon, beckoning writers with the hope of many MANY words to be gained.

What to write?  I could, perhaps even should, try to finish up Truian’s story.   50K ought to do it.  And yet there is the lure of getting a good jump on Aedin’s story, the sequel to Khyr’s book.  And in the background Mathias and Ronyn are both begging to have their turn.  Decisions.  Decisions.

Dream a little dream…

A different day today…a different expression of what my life is all about…of what I aspire to. What I dream, for myself.

Today I was brave.

I hit ‘send’ on my laptop and sent a query for my epic fantasy off into the world. Scary stuff, that. So many hours, months, years invested in this story. So much love, tears, hope, doubt.

OMG! It’s like raising kids! lol

And after I hit the button, had my moment of panic, then a deep breath because wow! I did it! What next?  Ah, the decisions that pull at my writerly heart…which story is next?

I always have a couple going…sometimes more.  I need to get back to work on the follow up book for this one. Just in case, you know.

I want to finish the eco-punk fantasy I have been working on along with this one for the last year. It is about half written, which pushes it to the top of the list.  Git ‘er done.

Tonight, I gaze at the gorgeous moon. Revel in the moonlight and the scent of rain promised on the wind. I watch the bats dance above the street, sweet darlings of the air, nomming on all those pesky southern bugs.

And I am thankful.

For days such as this, nights so sweet, and the gift of words which fill my life with magic.

I am so blessed.

What are you thankful for?

Whacking….weeds and words

It was a good day at work.  Whacked weeds, edged flowerbeds.  Lots of outdoor work to burn off energy and frustration.  Potted a couple of baby crepe myrtles I hope will do well and grow into nice new trees.  Purple.  I think purple crepe myrtles are sooo pretty.

Then at home I whacked more azaleas…so many more to trim.  And now I am whacking words in my edits.

It has been a good day.
